TWENTIES

Automobiles-
North Carolina had known about cars ever since about 1905, when wealthy industrialist and physicians brought them home to every town in the state. By 1912, townspeople used them on a daily basis. After World War 1, cars became very important to people in the countryside. The war put more money in peoples pockets. Ford gave them a=tge chance to spend money on an automobile. His company perfected a reliable assembly line porcess that lowered the cost of his basic car, which he called the Model T. Fords company grew so fast that he set up a factory in Charlotte. North Carolinians everywhere drove Model T's every day. After the war, about one tenth of th state's families had a car.
